A breakdown of our Bonaire Sailing Trip and How You can Sail the Seychelles

Introduction

If you’ve never been sailing before, then you’re probably thinking that it sounds like a lot of work. That’s true! But think about how much fun it would be to spend your days on the open sea with nothing but the wind and sun for company. Sailing is an addictive hobby that has all kinds of benefits, such as reducing stress and increasing physical health.

If you want to get started in sailing or just want some tips from someone who has done it before then this blog post is for you: what do I bring with me? How many calories do I burn while sailing? What should I eat? Is it safe out there? Where can I sleep at night? We’ll cover all these topics plus more during our time on Bonaire Island!

On our second day, my friend and I woke up starving. We woke up early because we were so hungry and immediately started rowing and sailing out to the middle of the sea with our bags of bread that we had bought from the market the night before.

On your second day, my friend and I woke up starving. We woke up early because we were so hungry and immediately started rowing and sailing out to the middle of the sea with our bags of bread that we had bought from the market the night before. As we were rowing and sailing, the sun was rising over a small island that was only two kilometers away from us!

This is how you can sail in Bonaire:

  • Make sure you have enough money for food (enough for two days). If you don’t have enough money, then save your money until you do have enough to buy food for yourself and another person who will be sailing with you on this trip!
  • Pack some clothes for swimming because this activity involves lots of swimming in salt water; so make sure there isn’t any chlorine on your swimsuit if possible or else it will smell bad later when drying off after swimming all day long!”

After about 20 minutes, we realized that it wasn’t enough for us to just have bread, so I pulled out a can of tuna and a can opener from my bag and started making tuna sandwiches.

I would say if you’re going to make your own tuna sandwiches on the boat, use some kind of bread that doesn’t crumble easily. We used whole wheat bread because we didn’t have anything else available at the time. You’ll also want to store your canned goods in airtight containers or bags so they don’t spill everywhere while sailing! It takes me at least 10 minutes to make three sandwiches with cans of tuna; however, if you’re starving (like most people likely will be), it might take less time than that!

We ate our sandwiches and fell asleep in the sun for a few hours.

We woke up early to eat our sandwiches and drink our water, because we were so hungry. I rowed the boat out to the middle of the sea with my bags of bread that we had bought from the market last night.

While we ate and drank, I pulled out a can of tuna from my bag and opened it using my Swiss Army knife that I keep in my pocket at all times (you never know when you might need one).

Around 1:00 pm we rowed back ashore to buy more supplies from the nearby store.

Around 1:00 pm we rowed back ashore to buy more supplies from the nearby store. The trip back was much faster than the trip out and we got there pretty quickly. The locals were very friendly, especially since we gave them a few dollars for their help in rowing us to shore. They also had some really cute dogs that you could pet if you wanted to, which I always love doing on vacation!

I think it’s important when traveling abroad not only do things like going on boat rides, snorkeling and scuba diving but also visiting local markets so you can experience all aspects of the culture surrounding your destination. This is especially true with food items that are unique or specialties of that country or region (like Bonaire). So while at this particular store I bought some spices like cumin seeds along with some other spices like nutmeg and cinnamon powder since these are all very popular ingredients used in many dishes during cooking here on Bonaire Island where I live now!

When we got back to our boat at around 5pm we made pasta for dinner and fell asleep again in our hammocks.

If you can’t sleep, try reading a book. If that doesn’t work, try listening to music. If that doesn’t work either, try looking at the stars or counting sheep (if you’re into meditation, try meditating; we weren’t). Or maybe just sit on your boat and enjoy the breeze in silence for a while.

Sailing during the day is exhausting but fun, so take daytime naps if you can!

The first thing to know about sailing is that it will be very hot. The second thing to know is that you’ll be on the boat for a while, so bring plenty of water and food. If you have an appetite, eat before you get too hungry.

The sun can also be dangerous; make sure you are always wearing a hat and sunscreen!

I recommend taking naps in the hammock if possible because they are both relaxing and refreshing after a day at sea.

Conclusion

We had a great time sailing around the Bonaire and I would highly recommend doing this trip with your friends or family. It’s wonderful to be on a boat in the middle of the sea with nothing to do but relax and enjoy yourself. However, if you’re looking for something more exciting then you can always try waterskiing or wake boarding!
