The Groundbreaking All-Women’s Race Management Clinic

The sailing world has made significant strides in recent years, with a growing emphasis on inclusivity and diversity. One notable example of this shift is the recent all-women’s race management clinic held by World Sailing in the Middle East. This pioneering event aimed to empower women in the sailing industry by providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary to manage regattas.

The Importance of Women in Sailing

Women have long been a vital part of the sailing community, but they have historically faced significant barriers to entry and advancement. The lack of representation and opportunities has led to a shortage of female sailors, coaches, and officials. Participants learned about the importance of safety, communication, and logistics, as well as the role of the race committee and the challenges of managing a regatta.
