Introduction
Life is all about the journey, not the destination. That is especially true when you are traveling by yacht. So why not make that trip more interesting with gatherings for cruisers? Here are some of my favorite events for boaters and sailors:
The Sailability Gatherings
If you are interested in participating in a Sailability Gathering, here is what you need to know:
- What is Sailability?
Sailability is an organization that provides people with disabilities the opportunity to participate in sailing. It was founded by Maureen Cooke, who has a disability herself. The program offers inclusive sailing experiences for individuals of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Sailing can be very beneficial for those with disabilities—it helps them develop independence and confidence on the water, which can lead to other accomplishments as well.* Where are the gatherings held?
Gatherings are hosted at various locations around the world. Participation is free but advanced registration is required.* What benefits do I get from attending a gathering?
If it’s your first time out on the water then there will be experienced instructors who can help guide you through each step of getting ready for departure; once underway they’ll share tips about safely navigating open waters and keeping track of where everyone else is so no one gets lost! There may also be other boaters joining us today so please feel free – if possible – bring along some refreshments (alcoholic or not) so we don’t run out while we’re out there enjoying ourselves together!
The World ARC
The World ARC is a unique and exclusive event that only the most adventurous yacht owners can attend. The World ARC is a regatta that was launched in 2016 by the Royal Yacht Squadron (RYS), which has been organizing this event for more than 60 years. The RYS is an organization that promotes sailing, boatbuilding, and other maritime activities for its members in the United Kingdom. It’s also where Prince Philip first met his future wife!
Anyway, back to the World ARC: It’s basically a race around the globe on your own private yacht—and you don’t even have to be a professional sailor like Kate Middleton or Prince Harry! In fact, most people who participate are amateurs who love sailing as much as they do traveling around the world on their yachts with friends like Mark Zuckerberg and Richard Branson do. You’ll get to visit exotic locations like Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town, Singapore and Bali while racing against others from all over Europe who came here especially just so they could participate in this one-time-only event (it’s never happening again).
The cost per person is around 50K USD depending on how many people there are aboard your boat—but considering how much fun it’ll be going around seeing all these places together with your friends (or family members)…that seems pretty reasonable considering what else you could spend money doing during your vacation time off work…right?
The World ARC feels like a rally that goes on forever. It was established in 2007 with the aim of giving cruising sailors an opportunity to complete a round the world circumnavigation at the same time but without being stuck together on a limited route. There are mandatory stopovers, but you are free to go your own way between stops and make your own itinerary. Sailing in a group does have its advantages, though. First, you get the camaraderie of having other cruisers around you and knowing you have safety in numbers. You also have access to land-based support services that might not be available for individual yachtsmen.

The World ARC doesnt charge an entry fee, but you must pay for your own costs of agreed upon ports and service provided by associated companies along the way. There is a minimum requirement of 16,500 sea miles over 29 months in order to qualify as having sailed around the world. Today, more than half of all World ARC participants are European although there are sailors from other continents as well.
The World ARC is a popular way to circumnavigate the globe. Its not a race or cruise, though some participants compete with one another in different areas of the voyage. It’s also not a rally or rally-cruise, since those involve going from point A to point B as quickly as possible. The main difference between these types of voyages is that in most cases youll have an itinerary and schedule set out for you by your boat owner or crew manager before departure.
Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez
Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez is a week-long event that takes place in Saint-Tropez every July. It is the biggest regatta of its kind in the world and one of the most prestigious. The regatta includes races for sailing yachts, motorboats, and even power boats.
The event takes place on both sides of the Cote d’Azur, with some races starting at Port Grimaud and others beginning in St Tropez itself. There are also several different classes which are split into different categories such as monohulls (one hull), multihulls (two or more hulls) or catamarans (more than two hulls). Each class has their own categories depending on how many people can fit onto it!
Conclusion
So, there you have it! The world of sailing is a vast one and its exciting to see so many meetups organized by people who love boats. If you have an interest in water sports or just want to see what goes on at events like these, then check out the link below for more information about how you can participate in one of these gatherings sometime soon (or maybe even today!).
