The Formation of the Offshore Academy Working Group

The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA) has recently taken a significant step towards enhancing its educational outreach by forming the Offshore Academy Working Group (OAWG). This initiative reflects the organization’s commitment to fostering a deeper understanding of maritime navigation and safety among its members and the wider community. ### Objectives of the OAWG The primary goals of the OAWG are: – To develop and implement tailor-made partnership packages for both new and existing sponsors.

This training aims to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate and handle these vessels effectively.

The Academy would be based in the UK, with a focus on sailing and maritime education. The project aims to provide a unique learning environment for students, combining traditional sailing skills with modern technology. The yachts will be equipped with state-of-the-art navigation systems, communication tools, and safety equipment. The Academy will offer courses in sailing, navigation, maritime law, and environmental stewardship. The project is expected to attract students from around the world, creating a diverse and vibrant community. The yachts will serve as mobile classrooms, allowing students to learn in different locations and gain hands-on experience. The Academy will also collaborate with local maritime organizations and institutions to provide additional learning opportunities.

Preferred providers will be invited to present their proposal to the OAWG towards the end of October.
