Be Your Own Makeup Artist

Introduction

Wow, your makeup looks great! You’re not wearing a single drop of foundation or eyeshadow? What’s your secret? Oh, it’s just that I learned how to make my own makeup with all-natural ingredients. Yeah, I’m kind of a dork that way.

Separate Egg Yolk and Egg White

Separate the yolk from the white by cracking an egg into a bowl, then using a fork to gently pull the yolk out of its membrane (the egg white will stick to it). Remove any pieces of shell that you find. Carefully transfer the yolks to another container and save them for later use.

How to make marbled lipstick

To make marbled lipstick, you will need:

  • A lipstick tube.
  • A lip brush.
  • A makeup palette (or small bowl).
  • Apply the lipstick with a lip brush to the inside of your upper and lower lips, leaving about half an inch bare at the center of each lip so that it is easy to see where you are applying it. (If this is difficult for you, try using only one hand.)
  • Use more than one color of lipstick—the more colors used, the better! Try using either complementary colors (pinks with reds; oranges with greens) or secondary colors (greens with blues; yellows with violets). If you want even more variation in color, use three or four different shades in one area and keep repeating until it looks covered enough for you!

How to make jelly lipstick

To make your own jelly lipstick, you’ll need:

  • A mason jar or other similar container
  • Wax (you can use beeswax for a more natural look, or regular wax such as paraffin)
  • Shea butter or other emollient (this will help the lipstick set and keep it from feeling greasy)
  • Essential oils in any scent you like (I recommend peppermint oil if you want to add a tingly sensation)

Now that you have all your ingredients together, here’s what to do:

DIY Eyes

Eyes are the most important part of your face, so if you want to look your best, they deserve special attention. You can make a DIY eyeshadow primer in no time.

It’s easy to find products that will help you achieve beautiful eyes. There are plenty of pre-made options available online or at any beauty supply store in town that may be right up your alley. If you don’t have time or patience for shopping, though, there are some great homemade options that cost next to nothing and take only minutes to create! Here are our top three recommendations:

  • Coconut oil is one of nature’s best moisturizers and anti-aging treatments—and it makes a great makeup base too! Just rub a little bit into the skin around your eye using circular motions until it melts into place (about 30 seconds), then finish by patting it down with another piece of paper towel before applying any other products for maximum effect. The coconut scent disappears once everything dries down nicely; just remember not overdo it because too much moisture could potentially mess up other aspects like color payoff later on if applied incorrectly!
  • Olive oil has similar benefits but doesn’t smell quite as good while being worn all day long so keep this one handy only when necessary such as during long days spent outside running errands where heat may cause sweating when combined with strong perfumes/colognes which could end up ruining everything else around them instead–not exactly ideal situations but still possible nonetheless so keep an eye out for them ahead of time!

Make your own mascara

  • What you need:
  • 1 tbsp. of beeswax (purchased at any health food store). You can also use carnauba wax.
  • 1/2 tsp. of peppermint essential oil (also purchased at a health food store). If you don’t want to use peppermint, use jojoba or sweet almond oil instead, but if you do that be sure to add more emulsifier than I have listed below so that your mascara won’t dry out quickly after making it!
  • 1/2 tsp. sodium borate (a preservative found in most cosmetics stores). This is optional; without it the mascara will last up to six months instead of four!
  • A clean container with a lid (such as an empty eye-shadow pot) in which to make your mascara; try using something with straight sides rather than ones that are curved like containers tend to be these days so that you can easily get all the ingredients out once they’ve hardened on top of one another due to being exposed for too long with no way for oxygenation which would keep them fresh longer by oxidation process typically used by manufacturers when producing their own mascaras from scratch instead of buying already made ones from places like Sephora where there’s nowhere else around town selling anything remotely similar because nobody here knows how much demand there’d be for such products unless someone were willing enough beforehand just like me 🙂

Mascara brush substitutions (if you’re in a pinch)

If you don’t have a mascara brush and need to apply mascara, there are several ways to do so. Here are some suggestions:

  • Toothbrush
  • Mascara wand
  • Cotton swab (do not use Q-tips or cotton balls)
  • Paint brush or makeup brush from your art kit
  • Any other small, round object with soft bristles (if necessary)

Makeup brushes from toothbrushes

When it comes to making your own makeup brushes, nothing says “DIY” like recycling old toothbrushes. I know what you’re thinking: “But I use my toothbrush on my teeth!” And yes, I’m well aware that toothbrushes are for cleaning your teeth and not for applying makeup.

However, if you want professional-looking results with minimal cost (and with the added bonus of avoiding plastic waste), then this hack is for you.

In this tutorial we’ll be making brushes out of disposable non-bristle ones that can be used on many different areas of the face—eyes, lips and cheeks!
